Cycling

Cycling is a fantastic way to explore the Mizen peninsula and Sheeps Head Way. There’s nothing like taking to the road and stopping wherever you fancy to appreciate this stunning landscape and the colourful locals you meet along the way. The epic Sheeps Head Cycling Route is 100km long, starting in Ballylickey, going along the north side of the Peninsula, and returning through Durrus village and on to Ballydehob. The Wild Atlantic Mizen Cycle is an annual charity cycle event in Bantry which raises funds for local charities. Some parts of cycling trails on The Sheeps Head Way and Mizen Head Cycling Routes overlap with parts of walking or scenic drive routes but they are also suitable for discovering by bike.  Connect a few routes together for cycling trips that take a day or more to complete and make the most of your time here. See below local bike shops for all your cycling needs, and guided and self-led tours on offer.
